On May 28th, the JMUN club hosted a guest speaker, Ms.Hatem Efe. Ms.Efe gave a presentation to the club members about what it means to be a humanitarian worker, and the educational and professional choices she made which provided her with the opportunity to work in the humanitarian sector. Ms.Efe has a Masters degree in European Security and Defense Policy from Leeds University in the UK, and is currently a Child Protection Programme Manager. She spoke about her work with various UN agencies in the past, where she provided protection services to child refugees in camps in Hatay with the UNHCR. The event was inspiring for the JMUN club members, allowing them to meet a Turkish professional working within the U.N. framework, which the club has been studying over the course of the year.
