Our National Anthem, the epic voice of our struggle to gain independence as the Turkish nation, is 100 years old today. In honor of this important day, our primary and middle school students read the Turkish National Anthem, which was written by the National Poet Mehmet Âkif Ersoy shouting the passion for independence with 41 verses, and which deeply affected the whole assembly by the time it was read for the competition organized in order to immortalize our national struggle. We remember the heroes of our independence struggle, Atatürk and his brothers in arms, and the National Poet Mehmet Âkif Ersoy with respect. Happy 100th anniversary of Our National Anthem’s acceptance.
