LIBRARY MEETINGS: PROF. DR. ÜMİT KONYA
As part of FMV Ayazağa Işık High School and Science High School’s Library Meetings, Professor Dr. Ümit Konya, Head of the Department of Information and Records Management at Istanbul University, met with our students for a discussion titled "The Future of Libraries" on Wednesday, April 24, 2024.
According to our guest, traditional types of libraries such as school, public, children's, and university libraries, as well as national and private libraries, have become closer to one another over time. These institutions, which provide, store, and distribute information, are changing their names to information centers, information houses, etc., nowadays. The ability to access all types of libraries via the internet has affected both the library landscape and user groups. The reflection of this change in the services offered to users is inevitable. Especially in recent years, with the support of artificial intelligence, the integrity of lifelong learning and information literacy has also significantly increased.
We sincerely thank Dr. Konya for this valuable discussion, which contributes to the enlightenment of our students.
