MATHEMATICS DEPARTMENT EVENT: NETHERLANDS-GERMANY SCIENCE TRIP
FMV Private Ayazağa Işık High School Mathematics Department organized a cultural and academic trip covering Germany and the Netherlands between 9-12 May. During this trip, which was carried out with a group of 37 students, 4 teachers and a guide, the Science Museum Nemo in Amsterdam, Netherlands was first visited. Our students were both entertained and informed thanks to the interesting activities, simulations and applications of all scientific branches in the museum. Touching an actual meteorite estimated to have fallen to Earth 4.6 billion years ago was a very interesting experience for our students.
In the second part of the trip, students visited the German cities of Frankfurt, Cologne and Düsseldorf. After visiting the important centers of these cities, our students went to the Motorworld Automobile Museum and learned about the historical development process of many car brands. On the second day of the Germany trip, they visited the Cologne Cathedral (Dom Church), one of the largest cathedrals in the world, located in Cologne. They also spent time at the Lindt Chocolate Factory and the adventure of chocolate was the theme from beginning to the end, starting at the cocoa tree.
On the third day of the trip, they went to Europa-Park, one of the largest entertainment centers in the world, located in the Rust region, and went on as many rides in the amusement park as they could.
On the last day, the Experimenta Science Museum in Frankfurt was visited; Our students carried out experiments and made observations about physics, chemistry, biology and mathematics. They found it very productive and educationally supportive in terms of concretizing the knowledge acquired at school.
From the feedback our students provided, they had a semi-exhausting and busy schedule. The well planned activities during the trip achieved its goal.
